Tactile Walking Surface Indicators are a standardized walking surface used for information by blind and vision-impaired persons. TWSIs can convey vital information to blind and vision-impaired persons by use of their raised tactile profiles such as flat-topped domes or cones, and flat-topped elongated bars.  Integrated TWSIs are a single plate, which a particular number of truncated domes or truncated bars have been incorporated on. These raised tactile profiles are readily detectable underfoot and by use of a long cane. Furthermore, both truncated domes and truncated bars have rounded or bevelled edges to minimize the risk of tripping and to enhance safety and negotiability for people with mobility impairments.   Our Integrated TWSIs are mainly divided into two tactile types: Type T Attention / Warning - Truncated domes designed to warn pedestrians of hazards in the path of travel. Typical applications of truncated dome tiles include transit platforms, curb ramps, and pedestrian crossings. Attention TWSIs are also known as Attention Tactile Warning and Safety Indicators (TWSIs). Type D Guidance / Wayfinding - A series of truncated bars aligned to advise pedestrians of the direction of travel to a facility or point of service. Directional truncated bar tiles can be used in all applications to guide the public through your space. Guidance TWSIs are also known as Wayfinding TWSIs.  TWSIs should exhibit a noticeable contrast in color compared to the surrounding walking surface. For attention TWSIs, the recommended color is safety yellow. Another effective approach involves using a light hue on a dark ground surface or a dark hue on a light ground surface.
